In the end, all the pre holidays dieu were gone, and so i have the luxury to nua at home. Luxury coz i'll be off at the factory after monday's PH.

Watched a bit of kampong soccer on tv (15 mins or so) and really can't tell the team being a representative of one's nation. And even with such 'tactical' employment of 'foreign talents', it still isn't as impressive to that of world class. I mean, you get the people from all over the world.. so what? And not too distant ago, way before the F1, GP, and YOG, there was some sort of goal to goal at 2010.. and now what? Don't ever compare our league with that of other states.. it was said there isn't enough talents to form two parties, what more 10 or more soccer teams? Basically, it's just kampong soccer at different levels. I think the odds are so odd that probability at the pools also can't keep track. I don't mean to be mean, but this is really the case. There are things we just aren't taught or have to luxury to do all day... so don't expect it.

However i still enjoyed any home goal, for it pisses off the other party. LOL.. the more they boo-ed, the more disappointed they will be they they get trashed. And really, nobody is stopping them from following.. i mean, don't be too emotional la.. it really impedes a lot.

And so we won. Or should i say they won? And it don't matter much if they won.. so long as they don't lose.

Oh ya.. by the way, the fishy smell came out from the ISO tank. It's confirmed, it's gone.

I Suspect..

.. that the last of the haha crab is up the lorry liao.

Don't know why, it seems different from the other molting.. even if that is a surface molt. I've since ISO it to another tank.. less it be a crab it crab world or whatever kind of epidemic spreading it their own world. Wait for a few more days.. till the dead fishy smell comes out, and i'll be able to confirm le.

I guess crabbing is unpredictable.. lol.. i mean in the wild they might have 15 years of lifespan.. and might grow till very very big (maybe the size of a golf ball).. but in captivity, chances are slim. A year plus.. not too long, yet ain't too short.

Right now still left one active hermit in the main tank.. the one i got from PM (other than the one being eaten alive =X ).. and i wonder will it be never ending or not.. that is, if there will be any replacement or not. Perhaps not now.

Just no hermit crabs for xmas presents please.. lol.. if not it will be never ending.. and spare the hermits from PPS.

Evergreen 90s

Band (though it is still officially an orchestra) was rescheduled to Sunday from today onwards. From noon, it was shifted to morning. Just find it a bit tough to wake up early on sundays morning. It's been quite a while since the last MG.. and i've been slacking since the start of CFG.

Anyway, i didn't know that scc also got mg wor.. which means, i can do both on the same day. Save me the transport fare also.. and on the same day.. most likely won't slack that much... haha.. band prac is must go one wor (the same old story again).

Reached early today.. coz the sunday morning traffic was super light. Compared to saturday evening.. this is so much better. At least when i reached scc, the mood isn't that bad. Bad traffic will cause bad mood one lor.

Was so delighted to see so many of them around during prac today.. though we can still use a lot more brasses. One trumpet, one trombone, and one horn.. only. Super nice acoustics at hall of wisdom today.. and i kind of like my horn tone today. As usual, the more i didn't practice, the more i feel like playing it better. Played "evergreen" today.. and the whole prac was quite like evergreen 90s itself... aww.. the good old secondary school days.. just that i'm lacking a full horn section (or a full wind band for that matter).

Was even more happy to know of the new directive. So so much better le lor. Suddenly as if they really know.. and i'm so glad. And the best part is, to have an orchestra while not being an orchestra.

And while prac was nice, i almost cooked my thumb before prac today.. zzz.. and then got blister.. making the right hand tuning on the horn kind of dreadful after that. Actually the burn wasn't that bad.. just that i think my brain didn't function well early in the morning. Already it hurts, and i still try the same method again and again... till i was offered a solution.. a bit late i guess.. but better than nothing. Wondered what my brain was doing this morning.. haiz.

Went PS after prac to get my hp back.. coz it was on loan to a friend. Strange that some hp repair don't provide temp hp sets, and more weird was that the repair cost almost 200% of the selling price. So was on my previous 6260 for a week.. and couldn't really upload the pics which 1 took a week earlier. The old $88 cable cmi already.. sian.

So was going to post this since last week's pubbing at brewz.. we intend to order a normal pizza.. but got a super large "curry pok" instead.. whahaha.. is super large one lor... actually this is a calzone.. but don't know why they put it in the pizza section.. a bit don't know what to say. Just make sure not to order 'new stuffs' when you are bored with the usual. There is a reason why they are the usuals.. lol.

Then while on the way home, i saw some hermie shells wor. And the important thing is.. they are of the right size for both my remaining hermies. LOL.. just take it as a belated bday present for them too.. Hahaha.. wanted to order from the US.. but the handling charges a bit expensive.. somemore the shell cost around 30 cents lor.. hahaa.. a bit bo hua.. In the end, i think buy at shopping mall also a bit tio cabbaged. It was $2.50 per shells lor.. and i bought 4! Hahaha.. think i got so delighted with finally finding the right sized shell that my brain go MIA again. $10 leh.. omg.. for 4 shells that i could have easily picked up from the beach.. FOC somemore! Maybe i'm too tired le.

That Cup of Tea

3am, and i still couldn't get to sleep. Must be that cup of tea, or so i thought.

Listening to the piano version of Tifa's theme of my blog at this hour with my earphone, it just felt so different.

Been quite a while since i've cleared all my modules, and yet, it seems like just not long ago.

Was with the rest of the then warlords, including ah gong zm for lunch today. Was talking about the days when we used to crub, even when we've got lessons to attend the following day. After school, we'll go to the clementi K-box (was still very new then) and sang until evening. It was so fun being a student. How i missed those days. Now that the rest of them are all working, sometimes it can be difficult to coordinate the time even for lunch. For now at least, i've been able to.. but, who knows what when i start working? Maybe for some reason, i might end up where i don't want to.

Today the village chief was not happy with one of the staff of the chocolate factory... coz that guy chute pattern to the customers coz there were "too many" of them.. "too many" by his standards, and so he was unhappy having to serve the customers.. i think he threw the chocolates to the customers wor. It was in fact, just 3 customers altogether.. not a lot by industry standards. In fact, he should be happy there are still people buying at this time of the year. Sometime ago, he already chute pattern le.. as if he was the pro like that. Maybe due to his experience, the rest of the staff couldn't challenge his position, and therefore, he was made the manager. Manager supposed to have CRM.. but he chased away customers like that. Some of the customers bothered to give feedback, and so it was known what he did (and didn't).

A new road was being built just opposite my block.. which means, they are really going to build "that hub" le. NIMBY lei.. But it seems, the pasture is always greener on the other side. People just like to compare and be envious (with no regards to any skeleton). So.. how come other people de estate kept increasing in value while ours are being made into "that hub"? LOL.. if life is fair, then we are no different to communism liao le. That said, people don't have any obligation for anything.. becoz they don't owe. Maybe it applies to moral obligations too.

That day while "chilling" at my void deck (like some ah zek like that), i saw a lady from the terrace with 4 dogs (!) of various sizes came over to the patch of grass opposite my block to let her dogs ease themselves. So inconsiderate lor.. there is a park built for them, yet they want to come over. Is our grass greener? No wonder people can step on dog poo. 4 poos leh.. how to siam? Then i saw another mini schnauzer just like pakki. Salt and pepper de.. and is female de.. and her behaviour is just like pakki lor.. lol.. all schnauzers, same pattern. She is smart too.. coz when she knows it's time to go back, she refuses to get into the lift.. haha.. so smart leh.

Pakki seems happy these days, coz he got into a nice village. Even grandpa and grandma dotes on him. The same to pakki's cousin coffee. He too got a nice village that cares and protects him. But sometimes, too doting can be quite harmful to the dog.. just the other day, the village chief open some durians (given by some friend of his) for pakki to eat, coz he was sniffing at the durian.. and that pakki liked it so much that he kept bugging us for more. The point is.. the durian was opened for pakki.. and we just happen to be able to eat coz pakki couldn't eat so much.. lol.. what is happening to the packing order? That pakki ar.. is making my mum laugh so much.. and i'm so glad that my sis chose him (ok la.. he was the only mini schnauzer left.. but who cares?).

My remaining hermies are quite well too, though i no longer fuss around them that much le.. perhaps i'm used to them doing their routine. Venti went into molting for the 3rd time in the year, and i haven't seen it for quite a while. Grande was alone in the large tank now that i've iso venti.. i don't want another case of cannibalism wor.

I'm just trying to make myself tired so that i can have a good sleep, so this entry was kind of messy.

Unexpected

One of my hermit was 'murdered' by another hermit... and the rest of the hermits just feast on it. A rather disturbing sight.

Ok.. now i do have a very empty shell le.

Still unsure why it happened.. most likely it's another case of a surface molt gone wrong. I've have fed them enough, so i don't think it was caused by a lack of food.

So now with the smallest hermit gone, i'm left with 2 of them..

And i thought they were "getting along well" wor.. Animals afterall, are still animals.. what can i expect?

1st Surface Molt

Yeah! Venti crab got out of its surface molt. Still, its exo is soft and white.. so perhaps need to iso it for a while more until it is fully protected by its exo.

Got the hermie food from PM, but they still didn't have the bigger shell. Everytime it's 'on the way' one.. also, the haha stall really don't know go where liao.. they are providing delivery services though... no stall leh.. online order, might as well order from US.


Bought the hermit feed from PM, and it looks kind of like the cny spring roll! LOL.. Don't know the hermies like this new food or not.

Finally got all my errands done.. phew.. maybe will be out at the nearest non-aircon "sitabak" for studying.. haha.. and also to test my la kopi skill - how to make a ice-blended last for 5-6 hours.

Goose Chase

Too tired that i fell ill. Was chasing goose for the whole eveing yesterday, as if like on a sg tour like that.

Went Sg Warehouse at paya lebar to collect something for pakki. 1st time there, but i didn't miss the bus stop. The collection was processed rather soon too, and the people there were very polite.. and i thought that i can get my errands done soon.

Went from paya lebar to hougang.. and it took me just 20 minutes. Couldn't find the Haha crab shop at hougang wor.. they moved house le! OMG... wasted trip leh.. very pek chek lor.. They also quite pro lor.. move liao webpage also never update. Anyway, they also got a blog.. and seriously, people like to niam about keeping hermit crab is wrong.. if that is so wrong, then don't keep any other animals lor.. then might as well close down the zoo hor.. then cannot keep livestocks also right? Siao de.. all kinds of bo liao people only know how to niam only. Yes.. this is really very subjective.. but keeping pets is not the same as torturing them. However, i am not a supporter of painted shell.. nor am i agreeable in keeping them in a small small plastic fish tank (that sells $70+ without the crabs?). It's just the way how the traders want to get their points across. Surely, given what you can get at the pet store within budget, it is inadequate. It is the same everywhere.. and i see kids buying them just like buying toy like that - Coloured sands and all (i don't think the kids or their parents even know if they need salt water and a humid habitat). Seriously, i'm not a naturist.. and i don't really care about what the traders are trying to do. I'm just, a hobbyist (just like
me playing in bands.. i never intend to go professional or semi pro.. that's why i didn't have my horn grading till now).

Anyway, got to go PM buy the crab feed le.. my venti crab is completing its molting soon.. and it's almost done with eating its own exo le. Sigh.. got to run around again.

My Sunday Report

Was late for MG today, coz i set my alarm too early. In the end, i disabled it and went back to sleep. Woke up at 1 hour later, with that kind of shock. Reached 'checkpoint' and the 969 went off when i'm at the overhead bridge.. some people blocking my way to the busstop lor.. stand at the stairs there.. irritating leh. So i was late, but still was at hq nonetheless. At least i've made it.

Pakki also woke up early, but not early enough to wake me up. He took part in the dog walking event at bishan park, organised by class 95. He too, like his owner, was late for the event, and so the very nice bandana was out of stock =( But still, he managed to grab quite a bit of pet food there, and also made a few mini schnauzer friend. By the way, he was really quite fat lor... zzzz. All the schnauzer all mini mini de.. only he 胖胖的. Then he walk a bit, then prone down on the ground.. coz too tired le.. hahaa.. maybe really too fat le hor? In the end, mum got to carry him.. lol.. 好命的狗. (all was told by my sis and mum.. i was at eating prata at tampines)

Intended to go paya lebar de.. but the warehouse wasn't open on sundays.. zzz.. that means i got to go tomorrow le lor.. maybe go hougang mall get the hermit crab feed also.. don't know why, the whole half of the remaining feed turned bad.. super smelly lor.. like dead fish like that.. made me want to puke.. zzz. Then i tried to do something to the feed, end up i failed, thus making the whole thing worse than before.. me and my itchy hand again. Throw away and buy new one can liao lor.. go do extra things don't know for what.

While checking on my crabs, i saw the exoskeleton of the large haha crab outside it's shell, and it seems very lifeless. Thought that i might have done something wrong to have it killed... (maybe it's name was written in the death note?.. lol.. L leh) coz it looked so much like the other dead crab. On closer inspection, it was a surface molt. LOL.. after 3 successful underground molts by the 3 crabs, they want to try new stun le huh? The death rate of surface molt is very much higher.. and i hoped that it can survive this. Iso the other 2 junior crabs le... now at least no one would eat it's exo.


A few days back, it was still doing some spider stuns..


... then i saw this.. the pale pale crab.. but actually it was the exo. If you look carefully, you can see the pincer inside the black shell (on the left hand side)..

Had a rather nice dinner with the village next to my block, but even though so, we had to wait 1 hour plus. Super pissed lor.. coz hor, live so near still don't know how to go there early leh.. zzz.. sit there wait 1 hour, might as well watch tv at home 1st lor. But everything was compensated by the very nice seafood. (crabs included) LOL.. saw the crab and thought of my surface molting hermit.. lol.. they look quite similar lor. Then nice oysters also.. aww.. good food always make me happy.. very happy indeed. But actually, bcm can do the trick.. no need crabs or oysters.

Was back home just in time to watch "death note".. lol.. super nice, but the anime nicer.. it's now showing on cable channel 56 every weekdays at 7.30pm. Nice leh.. after food still got movie.. haha.. and no need to spend a lot also.. zzzzz.. no wonder i becoming more and more 宅le. Ar.. i want to go work soon lor.. then can have good food everyday.. maybe when i get my pay le, i'll be more 'generous' wor.. hahaa.. especially my first full-time paycheck. Well.. it depends on the pay ba.. if i get peanuts, then i treat peanuts lor.

I think i had my antenna severed nowadays... ar.. so sien. Run too much until i dropped it somewhere.. hahaha.. sigh.. who can help me find?

3rd Successful Molt!

Just as i thought i'm done with updating the blog, Grande rug got out of its molting. It took around 3 weeks to molt too.. Too bad, i think grande missed out on the 'reunion dinner' for cny le.. haha..

3 crabs, and 3 successful molt. So far, all the crabs had molted once le.. and all their legs grew back! I guess the initial setback from the death of the haha crab had made me want to make sure they lived. Sad leh.. where got crab die less than 24 hours under my care de.. that's why, i can't let them die so easily (no, i'm not going to torture them) anymore.

Long Time No Sick

Its been a while since i last fell ill. Maybe too long never ill, hence this time it lasted quite a while. Coughing and having flu.. plus stomach getting weak also... already almost 2 weeks le, and non of the liang teh and cough drops seems to help. I guess, it must have been the late nights and irregular eating hours. My bio clock seems to be in a mess these days. Quite irritated lo.. plus cny coming soon, and i don't want to miss any of the good food.

Semester ending soon, and i am still clueless of IM.. ahahahaa... wonder what i've been doing.. sigh.. and now feeling so illish, i also won't know whether got time to study for friday's FR test or not.

Almost 15 years living in this estate - from industrial estate to the so-called 'villa' after the upgrading.. and finally there is going to be a train station! Yay~ Hahaa.. and i think is 2 of them! Yay yay~ one of them which is due to complete next year, is near one of the top JC in sg.. and the other, although that station is set to bear the name of my neighbourhood, will be near the 'up the lorry' hub.. if i'm not wrong. LOL.. 塞翁失马 leh... but then again, this newer line will be completed 2020~ lol.. by that time, i might have my own car le. If they really can improve the whole public transport system, maybe i can consider. Just imagine this lor.. from central to west need 1.5 hours.. if i drive, the most is 0.5 hours.. who will want to take some bus that seems more intent on bringing passangers on a sight-seeing ride? Just last friday, IM lesson ended half hour early.. and the naive me thought that i could reach home at least 30 mins earlier, if not more.. but who knows? Stupid buses took a whole half hour to reach, and then like every busstop is packed with half hours' worth of sardines. In the end i reached home LATER than usual... LOL.. It seems strange.. during the non-peak hour, the frequency of the bus is 38 mins! and during peak hours, you can't even get on the bus.. no wonder la.. no wonder the road is so packed with private cars.

Market is volatile these days.. and some say that it's a good time to enter.. IMO, the economy doesn't seems too strong... well, if the strategy is to hold long term, then maybe can invest lo.. provided there is no need of the cash in the near future. There is opportunity cost involved.. and learnt from IM, the best strategy for liquid traders is to hold long term.. which means that, if you don't have superior information - either through extensive research or whatever (by the way, insider trading is illegal.. but then again, the law of large numbers will always win... so who has the most money wins lor), holding long term should be relatively safe. If not, i see no difference from betting big/small. Too bad i didn't major in econmics.. lol.. because they are always right.. for whatever that happened, they always have a reason... 马后炮 i think.. hahaa... And then as if the FIs are not busy with the fallout of the subprime crisis.. there is another pro involved in a trading fraud. The amount surpasses that of the famous nick leeson.. an amount totalling 7 billion. LOL.. 7 billion leh.. is he pro or what? Amazing.

Sigh.. sick liao not a very nice feeling.. like everything also no strength to do.. wondered will the flu bug pass on to the critters at home or not? Hahaa.. 9 days into the molting, grande should be doing well ba.. so are the rest. Even bacon is doing well.. seems like he gained weight again. I on the other hand, have been losing weight.. sigh.. do hope i can recover soon.

...1% Moment

Like the crab also, molt for one month, but the actual molting process takes a day only. The rest of the time is use in preparing for the molt. 99% preparation.. 1% moment. Don't know whether the grande crab decides to molt or not.. it keeps digging in and coming out.. anyway, i've already isolated it.

And then.. the venti crab changes its shell again. LOL.. this time is black colour de.. whahaa.. so vain sia.

Friday saw on "frontline" that people are keeping shrimps also.. lol.. more and more exotic pets wor. Their lifespand is around 2 years, and nice ones will cost over $100.. lol.. the $8 hermit crab can live up to 15 years. Even longer life than pakki lor.. haha..

99% Preparation...

They say its all 99% preparation and 1% moment. Perphaps i wasn't prepared enough. (or over prepared?) Sometimes think too much and in the end got it all wrong. Well, it happens elsewhere too.. but then, some people are just able to.. why not me?

After yesterday's practice, was quite demoralised by the screwed up solo.. Wasn't that i wasn't able to, but sometimes when it comes, it didn't come. I guess it was over prepared for "over the rainbow". Too much weightage on certain things le.. especially when the whole orchestra wasn't playing.. lol.. very stress de lor. Wanted very much to hand the solo over.. but nobody there to take.. what can i do? But then.. like this also not a long term solution wor. Sigh leh. Run also cannot, fight also don't know can or not.. lol.. think is play dota meh? Just quit game can le meh?

Disappointed with myself over "over the rainbow", but then was glad to hear some guidance, and some words of encouragement from the instructors.. hahaa.. 1st time hear praises wor.. hahaa..

Nice was the orchestra for the day. We had a lot of strings and of coz, our tuba is back.. very nice to have a base for support.. for once i didn't feel that the middle section is the support.. and for once it wasn't empty. But then.. pian pian i had to screw the solo up.. wahhaa.. felt so bad to waste all of their time lor.. my bad =(

Was actually much anticipating nutcracker to boost morale.. but then no time.. ahaha.. pract ended later, and went JP mac for late dinner. End up reaching home after 12am.

Let me see if i can achieve anything within this week.. if really can't.. haha.. maybe i can try harder to look for a replacement horn player le.. lol.

Pek Chek

Was very pek chek yesterday.. don't know why, maybe the journey to the west took me too much time. 1.5 hours there and another 1.5 hours back.. 3 hours leh. And then got there and still couldn't get things right. Sian. Same old problem, and i didn't want to say anymore.

I got short term memory though.. had a GG of dota after midnight on LAN, and then was quite happy le. And as if that wasn't enough to offset my pek chek, my small hermit crab came out of its molting! LOL.. and it got its full set of legs back. That is enough to make me happy lo.

顺其自然

Got to know which rug the exo belonged to.. lol.. it was the old exo of L.rug. Heng ar.. it never kill my small crab.. haha.. Then i quickly seal off the molting area.. but 3 hours later, M.rug disappeared from the tank. (i sealed off the molting area le.. still got place to dig in meh?) Now i only know the location of 2 of them. Saw some digging movement in the molting area.. but one of them is missing.. (again). LOL.. this is definately a test of patience.. you never know when you'll see the crab again.. if ever. Maybe it died inside le i also don't know lor. But then again, sometimes must 顺其自然.. so i see how lor.. no need to wait also, coz also don't know wait for what.

Strange.. Strange

I hoped my s.rug doesn't tio owned. Found 2 crab legs on top of the molting area.. and i don't know is whose. Seems too big for the s.rug, and it's empty.. meaning that it is definately an empty exo.. but what is it doing outside? Strange.. strage... wondered if s.rug is still alive or not.. or maybe got murdered by L.rug? Read that some crabs will eat fresh molted crabs. Got so tempted to dig them out to find the truth.. but then again, digging them out means killing them. It's a crab eat crab world.. lol. That is one mystery that maybe time will tell.




Other mysteries, maybe time won't tell. A few days back, i saw a copy of CL (Creative Life) on my desk.. and it was addressed to me (by SSA). Strange.. strange. I never subscribed leh.. and last time our family subscribed (subsription already expired), it was under my mum's name.. Strange.. someone subscribed for me.. and paid for too. Eh.. like that how can? Didn't even know who to thank. Anyway, i appreciate the intention.

Saturday's orchestra practice was cold. Physically i mean. Got drenched in the rain, and the aircon was like in full blast.. Winds section as usual didn't have much people.. really wondered where all the winds player go to. It's true that orchestra don't need so many winds... but then again, bo lang eh see liao also cold lor.

Halfway through the pract, my rotary string broke, and i got to switch instrument. Luckily (or unluckily) my colleague didn't come.. so i got instrument to switch to. And strangely, i don't know how to count when playing in an orchestra. In the past i used to infer the tempo from others.. now with the strings, i really really can't feel. Difficult wor... then everytime tio shoot. Hahahaa... and the more i see the conductor, the more i got confused. Zzz... So saturday, i bao everything - from legend to nutcracker.. and i played until the sound pik che.. my endurance cmi.. Aww.. i still missed my secondary school days.. then was a full section and lots of bass for support. Lol.. complain also no use.. i still end up going for pract weekly.. lol.. and there is a school gathering next week, guess i won't be going le.. no horn parts then also difficult for them.. a lot of pieces also sound empty empty de... it just sound so strange.

A lot of strange strange things to start the year.. maybe 2008 is a year of mysteries.

First Entry of 2008~

New year le~ but nothing seems new to me.. especially my FR assignments.

Been very busy for the past 2 weeks coz of the need to rush my assignments. 1st time in my whole uni life that i'm so "willing" to do assignments and study for test. Slept no earlier than 6am for the past 2 days.. and i guess today won't be of any difference. Thankfully (and hopefully), i can take a break and "enjoy" the new year after friday's lessons. I can thank all the coffe i had to keep me awake after that.

And then the exams invoice came.. around SGD 1300.. lol.. super broke le.. and don't complain if you hear me complain.. i am really really broked. The exams timetable is out too.. super glad that the dates of the papers are evenly spread, and all are in the afternoon. My last paper should be before 6th june.

Just this morning (early morning i mean.. around 3am), i saw something strange in my ruggie's tank.. i saw something blue.. yupz.. the blue haha crab emerges from its molt! Which means... the conditions are right. I'm so happy.. haha.. effort (and money) not wasted after all. I held the blue haha crab by its shell, and i saw it's new exoskeleton (the crab's own shell).. it is now a bit purple in colour, and i think it sort of grew bigger le.. whahaa.. and as usual, with the blue haha crab around (the biggest of the 3, now even bigger), the settings in the tank got "tanked" around.


Molting means that the crab is shedding it's exoskeleton, which is the red part... like snake shedding its skin like that. The blue part is its home (or clothes if you like), and it doesn't grows, unlike that of the tortise. It came from dead snails and the crab doesn't grow it. It is NOT attached to the crab by any cells or whatsoever.. and the crab can choose to come entirely out from the blue shell if it chooses to (and get attacked most probably).. hope it clears some doubts. ^^ (in this case, the shell is blue in colour la.. i am still looking for a unpainted natural shell and hopes it moves into it some day)


LOL.. all camera shy.. L,rug with M.rug (large ruggie with medium ruggie.. zzz.. stupid me forgot to give them names.. ahahahahaa) anyway, the L.rug is slighty purple.. maybe the exo still new, haven't really harden yet.

Its been 3 weeks since i last saw the blue haha crab.. lol.. and i'm quite happy to see it still alive... whahahahaa.. too bad it missed both xmas and new year. Now only left the smallest crab (S.rug)in the molting area. It should be much more of a challenge for the small crab becoz it had some missing legs.. by right (i read online), it would be more "stressful" for them to grow new legs.. but i guess it should be alright. By the way, both smaller crabs had missing legs when i got them from the shop.. lol.. they are sold at $8 each leh.. so no QC. Haha's is different.. a lot of QC, plus i think the crabs are older (by looking at the size), so higher chance of survival.. but then again.. i wondered why the other crab died on the 1st day it came... =X

LOL.. so interesting.. only that the start up is ma fan (very ma fan).. coz i don't know anything about it.. now i know where to get the items le, and so very much easier.. even easier than keeping hamsters.. lol.. plus the small size means they don't really eat a lot also, plus they don't poo much also.. so not much of changing sand or whatsoever... so.. anyone interested to keep ruggues as pets/hobby? Hahaa..

Haha Saga

Revamped the ruggies' tank, and included a new substrate which i bought long ago.

The sand was rather moist with sea water and who knows what. So i washed it, and had to dry it to get rid of the chloramine (no longer chlorine) in it. Actually i don't even know whether it will get rid of the chloramine by drying or not.. haha.. blame it on my secondary chemistry teacher. Anyway, i supposed so..

Didn't quite drain the sand, and hence it took an awful long time to sun almost 5kgs of sand. In the end, i dug out an old oven and start "baking" sand.

Thought it would be simple, but ended up doing it for quite a while. I think next time i'll do it a different way.


"mud pie" anyone?

Luckily the effort is not wasted. (actually can choose not to wash the sand one.. don't know why my hand so itchy..) So this morning, i saw the blue haha crab dug itself in.. i supposed it's time for it to molt (change its outer skeleton, not the shell). Hoped it survives.. coz the death rate during the molting process is quite high.. anything wrong with the tank, and it'll die.. sort of like an check on whether the setup is right or not. If everything goes well, it'll take around a few weeks, if not months, i don't really know.. haha.. 1st time to see a molt. The worst part is not being able to check whether the crab had died or not (coz it is buried deep in the sand) and any attempt to dig it up will kill it.. = = So how? Wait until cny and if it is still in there.. if yes, then most likely is up the lorry liao.

The new setup of the tank, seperating C1 coral sands and C0 playsand. (coral sand cannot dig in, but it is easier to manage) Included DIY-ed ramp made from some left-over material of the door-gifts in the SRC room.. lol..

A Fine Day

The weather finally cleared!

Fine weather today, and hence could find some place to go without carrying an umbrella.. becoz, 最美的不是下雨天.. whahaa.. i have nothing against rainy days, just that, it isn't as nice as in the past.

So today, went north to yishun to get some sand for my c.rugosus.. and hor, one uncle tried to "recommend" me another place to buy the sand.. wahahaa.. poaching? Anyway, i still got it from there.. $5 for almost 5kgs of sand.. lol.. and i saw some shells too.. so might as well get them too. Saw those individual de, and uncle sell at $2 each wor.. hmm.. a bit ex.. and then i saw those packet de.. also $2.. but for 1 packet! Hahaa.. sad to say, only 2/6 of them are suitable for the ruggies.. or maybe not? Hahaha.. if not, then i place order online liao.. lol.. ship all the way from USA!


Natural shells and natural sand.. whahahaa... i don't like coloured shell and coloured sands.. so didn't get from H*H*.. haha...

Still some more work to be done wor... got to boil the shells to kill any bacteria and also, got to wash the sand and bake them also.. hao mang ar.. After i've finished, maybe i will change the layout of the tank.

LOL.. and now i realised my tank is "too small" le.. yupz.. till i boil the shell and bake the sand, then see if the blue coloured shell comes off ba.. haha..
