Long Weekend

Long weekend i don't have. Work resumes on saturday.

Was at ion the other day for dinner, and happened to see the lego sg map.. and so did a tiny bit. The whole map was only half done.. so there is a lot more to be done.

Just as world economy is recovering, now it is dubai's turn to chute pattern. Happened that sg market is closed for the PH, and so the market didn't LS like HSI. 5% in a day leh.. where to find? Again, the assumptions led to the bubble.. and so when it burst, the market was shocked. All signs were there, and all sighs here. Hopefully they will work something out during the long weekends, and hopefully there is hope. If so, perhaps there won't be such a big sellout when the market reopens on monday. In anycase, got to brace.

2 days back, the CF's van lost its brakes. Don't know how it was used, but the vehicle that i took to work and back is super chwee.. though it isn't the oldest in the fleet. Just a week ago, the tire was punctured.. and so was the reserve. Had to change, and it cost money. This time, it was the brake disc. It worn off, and stepping on the brakes might cause further damage to the vehicle.. so it was sort of initial D.. engine brake and hand brake were used instead. Thankfully there wasn't much vehicle.. so got home safe and sound.

Thought it was rare to had such incident on road.. but yesterday the cab ran out of engine oil at the middle of CTE, and the cab driver had to arrange for another cab to pick us up. I don't think it is very professional for cab drivers to run out of engine oil. Tire flat maybe.. but engine oil? They don't check their equipment one ar? Especially when it is used for earning money. Well.. at least we do keep our tools at the workshop in good condition.. well.. at least the CM and me. The rest? I don't think they give a damn. This is how it works.

So tiring at work.. as usual. Haha.. and wonder why i shouldn't be.

PH is always tiring coz of all fun-filled activities. I mean, all work no play? Dull leh.

Car Wash

A few more days before handing over the kuti R1, so had to clean it.

Then i realised, it didn't take much time to wash it.. perhaps it was really too small le. Used to use 2 hours for a vios wash.. but the R1 only needed 1.

Really small.. it can't even fill a lot with its length.

Wondered why some cabbies like to park at the car wash area.. inconsiderate lor.

Anyway, it was an off day on a sunday... it was totally different from the night before. In the end i still woke up around 7am, but it was really nice to have a day which i need not have any commitment. Did quite a bit of upkeeping, and still more to come.. mostly work related.

Beyond Expectations

Performance day, and it was supposed to start at 11.30am. As the brasses didn't have any actual combine, we agreed to practice on the actual day, at 9.00am. Though not advisable, we still did.. and all day, i had to conserve energy.

Tried out a few seating arrangements, and found one where everyone could be heard. It wasn't that bad afterall.

Our combine ended around 11am, and that was coz the percussion had to practice at IPA. Coincidentally, my breakfast was at 11am too. Da bao-ed from home coz didn't had time to eat, and had to delay coz of the combine. 11.30am, and went for lunch.. lol.. i sure am hungry.

The heavy breakfast+ lunch made me very sleepy and tired. By the end of the 1st run, i was making lemonade. My colleague was sick, so had to play back the 1st part of the 1st part. Only to revert at the actual performance.

Abandoned the 2nd run, and only did a full run on the "saints".

The one hour break came, and i was back eating sandwiches. Don't know why.. but it seems that i get hungry easily today..

Then they had some sort of prize giving for the concert committee. Looked as if it was some sec 4 graduation like that. I didn't do much leh.. hahah.. But really.. wanna thank the band director and assistant band director.. and also stage manager for their effort in making this concert a successful one.

Had nothing much to do during waiting.. so we all chance upon the junior ttp's grocery. Was so envious of the junior ttp's husband.. coz she was going to make soup for him.. no body no body make soup for me leh..

The actual performance was beyond my expectations.. was so surprised and glad.. and much to my relieve. All 3 brass pieces were quite well done given that we only got to practice together just this morning. Especially nice was "the entertainer".. perhaps coz i didn't play (kidding).. haha.. I was seated on the stage doing nothing.. so i started clapping. Heng the audience did respond.. if not i would have looked very entertaining (that "the entertainer" being me). It wasn't full house, but given all the circumstances, it was already more than enough.

"William tell" was slightly disappointing towards the 2nd part.. coz was really tired.

I don't know what this concert did to all those who came.. perhaps it inspired them.. perhaps it caused nightmares.. i just did my best. And surprisingly, it touches my heart. Seeing how we all struggled, and yet still didn't give up. The brasses had been great, and very glad to have a senior ttp to guide us.

Supposed to have dinner with my colleague.. but in the end decided to return home. Drove to ntu to return the 16k horn before dropping him off at tpy. A small gesture for him helping out in this concert.

Reached home, and no soup for me =( No dinner too =( So got changed and went out for 'little bowl noodles' at the bcm stall alone. At least xiao wan mian got soup.. hahaha.. so ke lian lor..

A week break.. long awaited. =)

Guilty~ (Bang!)

Last night, i was in zouk (again).. it's been a long long time since we all had the chance for mambo on wednesday night. Took leave from work coz had another ktv marathon the following day. It was a bday celebration for the nov babies, and so almost all took leave.

It was always difficult to apply for leave, coz jobs were left to those in the same village. Yet yesterday, was pek chek-ed by the CM.. till i don't want to care what happen in the production line. For the day at least. The leave was timely.. coz i needed to cool down.. yet from what i heard, the work load was very heavy.. and really, i was kind of guilty.

Anyway, mambo night was quite nice though.. coz i finally get to hear the song.

Didn't have much rest.. coz whatever the time i sleep, i'll wake up before 7am. Slept at 5am, and so had around 2 hours of sleep.. and today was another packed day.

Went to the police post to report a lost and found of an ID. Actually wanted to deliver to the owner's doorstep, but i guess it'll be better for the police to handle. At least they will ensure that the owner will get back the ID. How do i know? I lost my ID before..

Went KTV at cine, and was too tired to even sing. Left early for band pract and so missed all the nice dinner they all had =( In the end had to make do with fast food. No sentosa clove though..

Really dislike the stage at IPA coz of all the sound absorbers. I really find it difficult to hear myself.. and so i guess that is why we tend to play so loud. Really not a suitable place for playing music. However, i do like the acoustics below the stage. Didn't get to practice for chamber pieces.. and to do it on sunday with 2 run through, i don't think it is advisable.

Hope to get it over and done with.. coz i need a few sundays to settle some of housekeeping at home and at work.

Sigh

Today was a disappointment. In fact, the rest of the days were too.

Till now, the brasses didn't have even one run-through where everyone is around. How to practice like that? It is kind of unfair. I'm tired, and the feeling of being denied is draining me.

If the body is tired, the mind will too.

Even words failed me at times. Sigh.

Had a dry run today on what was supposed to be our performance the coming week. Had the chance to play at the hall, and really wasn't a good choice for performing. I couldn't hear much of others, and the horn sounded muffled. Disliked it.

I don't know where this is taking me.. it seems the council kept changing directions, and sometimes expectations accelerate faster than improvements.

I do have a choice.

Halloween 09~

Halloween @ zouk was quite fun... was my 1st time taking part in such.. in fact, halloween at anywhere also seems fun.. no need to drink also can be very fun. Saw the evening news, and actually there are some other places having halloween parties. Perhaps might be going elsewhere next year le.

Really didn't have much time to prepare.. anyway i also don't know what to expect. Dressed up as a convict, and... the whole of their staffs all dressed the same. Boring.. hahaha.. next time maybe dress as gundam wor.. or maybe something "boomz". And throughout the night, the staffs kept looking at us.. haha.. perhaps coz we were slacking. Then got one asked me how come my 'uniform' had a belt.. lol..

Saw quite a few interesting dressups.. including the carebears, 十八铜人, 鬼新娘, ghostbusters, the mario 'brothers' and 还珠格格. It was so funny lor.. especially when the 格格 did a curtsey when i greeted her.. hahaa.. i guess they really got into their roles.

It was actually an advance bday celebration for my friend.. and never was i so amazed by his quotes. I really laughed till my stomach ache. Skipped dinner and so was having gastric.. till we downed the 1st lambor.. it was really flaming lor.. flame until i can't feel my stomach.. but it was nice.. at least sparing me from the gastric.

There was the famous "long island tea contradiction" and also something about the ball-bearings.. haha.. i really can't stop laughing.. sorry for being so evil =)

Towards the end, it was getting a bit worrying.. coz what came out was 1/2 a jug.. and really can't find help.. Maybe next time we all wear a tag with our address.

Slept at around 5 am before waking up at 7 am for band.
